For 25 years, Disney Cruise Line has been sailing the high seas and catering to families of all shapes and sizes. Our favorite part of a Disney Cruise is the service and storytelling you know and love from Disney paired with the laid back nature of a cruise vacation.
Disney Cruise Line sets sail to destinations and itineraries around the world, with 5 ships in their fleet (and 3 more on the way) and 2 privately owned tropical destinations, there’s a plethora of Disney Cruise Line options.
Disney Cruise Line Fleet
Currently the Disney Cruise Line fleet comprises 5 ships across 3 classes. The original two, the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder, are sister ships and are the smallest in the fleet. The Dream Class includes the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy. The newest in the fleet is the Disney Wish which also brought in the newest class in the fleet.
All the ships have unique offerings, from different restaurants and bars, to different entertainment and shows on board. While you might be inclined to pick the ship that seems the most fun to you, certain itineraries are only sailed by certain ships. If the itinerary is the most important element to you then you will be at the mercy of the current Disney Cruise Line schedule when it comes to ships.
A perfect example is Alaska, currently your only option if you want to sail to Alaska on Disney Cruise Line is aboard the Disney Wonder.
Disney Cruise Line Private Destinations
If you sail on Caribbean or Bahamian itineraries, there’s a good chance you will stop at one or both of Disney’s private destinations. Disney Castaway Cay is the Cruise Line’s private island paradise. It has been open since the Cruise Line debuted
The newest private destination is Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. This is not a private island but rather a private section on the island of Eleuthera. The area is only open to guests onboard the Disney Cruise Ship that is docked there.
Disney Cruise Line Itineraries
With 5 ships in the fleet and more coming soon, Disney is now able to routinely sail to all corners of the world. Caribbean and Bahamian itineraries are offered year round, sailing out of Disney’s home ports of Port Canaveral (Orlando) and Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale) in Florida.
Other destinations like Alaska, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific and more are offered during select seasons throughout the year.
Disney Cruise Line Themed Sailings
Beyond the traditional itinerary, Disney does offer unique themed sailings. These themes have more to do with the onboard experience than the ports of call. Pixar Day at Sea and Marvel Day at Sea bring characters from both franchises aboard for a jam packed day at sea.
Halloween on the High Seas and Very Merrytime Cruises bring special decorations and entertainment offered during their respective seasons
