‘IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth’ to Be Replaced With New Nighttime Fireworks Spectacular at Epcot

Today Disney has announced that IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth will make its final bow in the second half of 2019. For more than 20 years this nighttime spectacular has delighted guests of Epcot. For me as a fan, I think it is my favorite nighttime show Disney World has to offer. We at WDW Opinion had been hearing for a while that IllumiNations was due to be replaced. Even though we were hearing these rumors today is the first time we can say they have been confirmed as Disney has now announced it officially.

No specifics were announced as of yet but in a recent WDW Opinion Podcast episode, we did comment on the rumors surrounding drones being featured in this new nighttime show. Additionally, there is speculation that Disney has filed a trademark name “Skymosphere”. There is a distinct possibility that this will play into the new name of the show.

If you don’t have a trip planned from now until late 2019 you might want to consider booking one as this will be your final chance to see IllumiNations in its current form.

Disney also reminded us that this new nighttime show is just another part of the continuing transformation that Epcot is currently undergoing. New attractions themed to Guardians of the Galaxy and Ratatoullie will be coming to Disney World’s second gate in the not too distant future. Stay tuned as we are bound to hear more details regarding the new nighttime show and further announcements about Epcot’s overhaul.
