Is Toy Story Land Going to Be Worth It?

The first movie I ever saw in theaters was Toy Story. I was two years old and then I definitely didn’t realize how big of an impact it was going to have on my life. Flash forward years later and Toy Story 3 comes out. I won’t lie to you…I cried when I saw it. It was incredible. But I also realized something. I realized that I was Andy. He was going off to college at the same time I was starting my senior year of High School. He was moving on from his childhood just like I was. Throughout the years I have loved everything about Toy Story. They are some of my favorite films and favorite characters.

Which is strange that I ask this question. Is Toy Story Land really going to be worth it?

We are less than 30 days away from Toy Story Land opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and while I am excited to see it, I can’t say I am chomping at the bit. When it opens there will be two new attractions. Alien Swirling Saucers and the without a doubt newest E-ticket attraction, Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster. I’ll ride Alien Swirling Saucers and it probably will be fun but nothing crazy. Slinky Dog Dash I think will be cool but I don’t think the theming of it will be as good as say, Big Thunder Mountain or Expedition Everest.

Other than that a new dining location will open. Woody’s Lunchbox will be a window service location in the new land. While I am very excited about some of the offerings they will have there (hello Chocolate-Hazelnut Lunch Box Tart) it’s still just going to be a window location.

The theming of the land itself will be Andy’s backyard. You’ll be the size of a toy and I know the details will be epic. But it won’t be as breathtaking as Pandora or the soon to open Galaxy’s Edge. And I think therein lies the problem.

If Toy Story Land opened at any other time I think the hype would be much bigger. But because it is sandwiched in between 2017’s opening of Pandora and 2019’s opening of Galaxy’s Edge, it’s not getting a whole lot of love. We’ve become spoiled with new lands!

I hope it proves me wrong though. I hope I am blown away by it but, for now only time will tell.

What about you? Are you excited for Toy Story Land?
